How to go from fighting belly fat, tired by noon, and forcing motivation — to lean, energised, and back to your best in 90 days with bloodwork, not guesswork.

So you've ended up here because maybe the low energy, low drive, and low motivation you’ve been feeling lately means you’ve stopped feeling like yourself.

Perhaps the fat around your belly means you’ve lost your confidence around your partner, in the bedroom, or to be seen shirtless in public.

Maybe you’ve started watching your kids play instead of joining in because you’re always tired.

Or maybe it’s a combination of those things that’s led you thinking about bloodwork in the first place.

Having looked at the bloodwork of 107 men over the last 4 years, what we found is this…

Having looked at the bloodwork of 107 men over the last 4 years, what we found is this…

male bloodwork showing low testosterone

There isn't one dramatic event you can point to and say that's when you stopped feeling like yourself. It came on gradually, while you were busy giving yourself to everything and everyone…

...the kids, the career, the relationship, all the things that don't stop just because you're running on empty. You kept going. That's what you do. It's who you are. But without really noticing, you stopped giving yourself permission to look after yourself.

That's the moment you realise everyone and everything you've provided for is fine…but you're not.

What you’re experiencing is depletion. And the best part is once you know where to look, you can change it. The only reason you've never been able to see it is it's hidden in blood markers nobody ever checks.

This guide is going to show you what you’ve never been able to see. And when you can see what the problem is you can fix it, change it, and escape it for good.

Your body keeps receipts.

Your body keeps receipts.

Every year of pressure, every night of broken sleep, every phase of stress you never got to deal with, and every single day of showing up for the people who need you without asking for anything back...your body logged all of it and kept the receipts.

And now it's presenting the bill in belly fat that won’t shift, low energy, and low motivation. That alone is stressful because you don’t know why it’s happening. And the thing with stress is it doesn't just sit in your head. It starts off in your body as something you can't see, and the pattern typically looks like this...

The Chain

And that's why everything you've tried hasn't worked.

And the reason why nothing's worked is everything you've been offered so far either guesses, treats the wrong thing, or measures you against the wrong benchmark entirely.

Here's what I mean.

1. Being told "everything looks fine"

If you've had bloods done at your GP and been told everything looks "fine", the reference ranges GPs use come from population averages. Walk down any high street in the country and look at the population those averages are drawn from. They’re overweight, stressed, hormonally flat, and often highly medicated men. That's the benchmark you're being measured against, NOT HEALTHY MEN.

2. Warped reference ranges

← Your GP calls this entire range “fine” →

6.6 nmol/L29 nmol/L
8
nmol/L
Exhausted. Soft round the middle. Zero drive. Wondering what happened to you.
26
nmol/L
Energised. Lean. Driven. Unmistakably yourself again.

Both men are told they're fine. One feels unstoppable and looks in shape. One feels and look like shit. You haven been told you're healthy. You're just not sick enough for the system to care yet.

3. Common isn't normal

You assume because your mates, your colleagues, and every man your age is complaining of the same things it's just what happens as you get older. But common doesn't mean normal. Common means it's happening to a lot of men. Normal means it's supposed to happen. They are not the same thing.

4. You got your bloodwork results. Now what?

Maybe you went further than the GP, went private, and got a home test kit. You did the finger-prick, posted it off, got a PDF back with a few numbers, a traffic-light system, some green, some amber, maybe a red. Numbers only mean something when someone reads them against each other, builds a plan around the specific markers that matter, and coaches you through it.

5. Everything else's guesswork.

Then there's everything else like the 5am cold plunges, the carnivore diet, the fasting protocols, the testosterone boosters off the shelf in Holland & Barrett. It's just guesswork dressed up as "oPtImIzAtIoN".

I mean if guessing worked, it would have worked by now and you wouldn't be reading this. So let me present to you what does work…

Ronnie Potts, 42.

Ronnie Potts, 42.

From the outside Ronnie had it together…the business, the house, the lifestyle. But inside he was running on empty at 17 stone.

The flat motivation wasn't a character flaw he'd picked up overnight; it was a problem he couldn't see as it was hidden in his blood. Here's what his bloodwork showed, and what we did:

  • His cortisol was through the roof. So we did what most coaches won't and made his training shorter. We stripped out the junk volume (ab circuits, bicep 21s, the HIIT finishers) that were piling stress onto a body already failing to recover from exercise.

  • His Vitamin D was on the floor. So we dosed it well above the standard recommendation; it helped his body start producing testosterone properly again, on its own.

  • The excess fat he was carrying was aromatising his testosterone into oestrogen, dragging his levels down to 9.1 nmol/L.

The result was 18kg down in 8 months, training four times a week, without TRT and in the best shape of his life at 42.

Steve Mann, 41.

Steve Mann, 41.

Steve’s total testosterone was the highest I'd seen on a client. He had no history of depression, anxiety, or ED. Yet he felt drained, had no motivation, and was carrying love handles. Christmas 2025 he tipped the scales at 100kg, the lowest point he'd known. His bloodwork showed why.

Your body has two kinds of testosterone: total (how much you've got) and free (how much your body can actually use). The rest is bound up by a hormone called SHBG and locked away.

  • Steve's SHBG was sky high and driven into overdrive by years of low-calorie, low-carb dieting, nutrient deficiencies and excessive exercise. So even though he was producing plenty of testosterone, his body couldn't use it. That's why he felt flat behind a number that looked great on paper.

  • We built the plan around bringing his SHBG down so his body could use the testosterone it was already making. We backed off excessive cardio and restored whole food carbs into his diet to bring down his SHGB.

The result was a 13kg drop in 5 months, and Steve back to feeling his best. Without bloodwork he'd never have known the testosterone was there all along, just locked away so his body couldn't use it.

Patrick Horne, 50.

Patrick Horne, 50.

On paper Patrick did everything right but for the effort he was putting in he felt like he should look and feel a lot better. His testosterone had drifted to 13.1 nmol/L: inside the "normal" range, but nowhere near where a man feels good. His bloodwork showed:

  • Zinc and magnesium were low. Both are raw materials the body uses to make testosterone — run low and you cap how much it can produce.

  • Vitamin D was low. The body leans on vitamin D to produce testosterone properly, and most UK men run low all thanks to the AMAZING weather we have here lol.

  • His caffeine intake was high which was affecting his circadian rhythm (sleep, wake cycle). Testosterone is replenished when we sleep so addressing that helped him improve his sleep hygine.

In 16 weeks his testosterone climbed 54% — from 13.1 to ~20 nmol/L naturally. This allowed him to turn 50 in the best shape of his life.

I pull back the curtain and reveal:

  • The single bloodwork marker dragging all the others down (fix this one first and the rest often fall into line; fix them out of order and you'll spin your wheels for months)...

  • The two everyday deficiencies quietly throttling your testosterone that almost nobody checks — and why fixing them let a 50-year-old lift his own testosterone 54% without ever touching a needle...

  • How can a man have healthy testosterone on paper but still feel flat, demotivated, and carrying belly fat (and the second number, the one your GP never shows you, that explains exactly why)...
